My entire little family packed up for a quick trip home (CA), I guess Dallas is technically home but California will ALWAYS be considered home base. We went home for Jack's 2nd birthday, to celebrate 4th of July and to introduce Nora to her extended family. The trip was brief but perfect. It was so nice to escape the intense Dallas summertime heat. During our visit we spent almost every second of every day outside. Jack would wakeup and tell me he needs his shoes, then he would run to the backyard. Poor kid hates apartment living as much as I do… we need our outdoor space! I was sad that I was unable to see more friends during the visit, but is was so quick and I wanted to spend most of the time with my mom and other family.
This trip was great because Jack enjoyed playing with his cousins… he is finally at the age where he is really playing with other kids. We went to Bumble in Los Altos a few times, and he had a blast playing in the sandbox. FYI- Bumble is the greatest spot, I wish there was a place like it in Dallas. It is delicious food for the whole family, great wine, relaxing atmosphere and tons for kids to entertain themselves with.
Coming home was sad, I did not want to leave beautiful California or family, but I clearly did not have a choice-- we are building a nice little life here in Dallas. I traveled back to Dallas with both kids, ALONE! I was a nervous wreck, but it went smoothly. People were so nice and accommodating. Jack occupied himself with books and my iPhone, and Nora mostly slept. All was great until I landed in Dallas and one of my bags was missing… but it was quickly delivered, so all is good. I think our next trip home with be for Thanksgiving- can not wait!
